Yahoo Mail Beta !!!

Yahoooooooooooo !!!

The new Yahoo Mail Beta is truly amazing. The final version is not out and still under testing phase.

There has been a sweeping redesign of the service's look, feel, and function. Many thanks to the Mail team for getting me in the door. Testers have the ability to toggle back and forth between the old and beta versions. Beta Mail will propogate outward through the membership over a period of months.

I've always preferred Yahoo over the lite-weight email version of Gmail. Gmail lacks horribly in terms of looks and personalisatoin. The new Yahoo! Mail is a sleek, finely wrought piece of interface design. The overall look is an Outlook-styled, three-pane window with folders in the left vertical pane, headers top right, and a message preview pane below the headers. So if you've already used Outlook or Lotus notes...you're gonna love this.

The new Yahoo! Mail features a tabbed interface whereby you can line up several messages for later perusal, very much like Firefox's tabbed browsing.

Also, a snazzy drag-and-drop feature lets you move messages among folders; it is startlingly pretty.

The new Yahoo! Mail is obviously a successful beta launch. It hints so strongly at a revolution in Webmail interfacing that one can't help leaping ahead to imagined additions. Yahoo! is already slick in three areas that I'd love to see woven into Mail:

* Popup previewing as in Yahoo! News.
* RSS.
* Tagging.

I have no idea whether such features are on the radar, and I recognize that with the usage footprint of Yahoo! Mail the company cannot be too experimental.This is an exciting start to a new chapter in Webmail.

For all those who've missed out the bandwagon and would love to get an invite to the yahoo beta version, the bad news is that there are no invites available but the good news is that there is still a chance to get on to the waiting list. Click here to get there...

Whatever dude... Google rocks bigtime... I feel yahoo is not very user friendly... Yahoo took so many years to establish itself in the market.. Google had made it in a very short span...

@ Prasanna

Agreed that yahoo took a lot of time, but if you ask me me to choose between the current available mail service providers, then i'd go for yahoo. Gmail needs to upgrade lotsa features man... But nothing can beat gmail @ its pace.

@ Jitesh,

That feature has always been there in Yahoo which is not offered by gmail. You can create folders and create filters for the incoming messages accordingly.

You can select the messages in the inbox and drag-drop them in the desired folder too :)

Ya its there.. thanx a lot vikram..
I never used yahoo, n switched to gmail only coz everybody used it.
Gmail has labels instead of folders.The logic behind it is that u can assign more than one label to a email..however in case of folder your mail can belong to only one folder.But I always find labels complex and untidy way of managing.

The other thing is there is no invisible mode in gmail..That i find stupid of google.

The only time i find google talk attractive was that it uses a industry standard protocol instead of a propreitary which yahoo uses..But this is hardly a concern for a normal email user.
The new Yahoo if it does not pops up colorful ads like the current version wud be my choice..

@Jitesh,

Yeah man..the concept of labels is very complex and a clumsy way of storing and sorting important emails.

Anyway check yahoo and see...I'm sure you'll love it :)
